American Idol’ exec and husband found dead in suspected double homicide

Robin Kaye, the acclaimed music supervisor behind American Idol, has been found dead alongside her husband, Thomas Deluca, in what police are investigating as a double homicide. The couple was discovered inside their Encino home on Monday after LAPD officers conducted a welfare check.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the responding officers arrived at the property and noticed blood near the front door. Unable to make contact with anyone inside, they broke a window to gain entry, where they found Robin and Thomas deceased from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

The couple was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is being treated as a double murder, though details remain limited and no suspects have been taken into custody.

The welfare check was reportedly prompted by concerns from family members who hadn’t heard from the couple in four days. It’s unclear who placed the call. During the visit, police informed neighbors of the communication gap.

The shocking discovery comes just days after police had already been called to the home. Last Thursday, someone reported seeing a suspect attempting to break in. An unidentified suspect was reportedly seen trying to gain entry and may have been armed with a firearm, according to the TMZ.

Neighbors told police they saw someone hopping the fence. Officers responded and searched the premises but found no signs of forced entry. A police helicopter also canvassed the area but turned up nothing.

At this point, it’s unclear whether the Thursday incident is connected to the couple’s murder. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage, but so far no arrests have been made. Notably, the home does not appear to have been ransacked.

Robin Kaye had a long and decorated career in the television industry. She served as the music supervisor on American Idol for at least 15 seasons, according to her IMDb page, and was a multiple-time winner at the Guild of Music Supervisors Awards for her work on the show. Her resume also includes music supervision for Lip Sync Battle and several other major productions, Sky News details.

Her death has left many in the entertainment world reeling. Known for her sharp ear and creative instincts, Kaye helped shape the sonic identity of some of the most popular TV music programs in recent history.

As the investigation continues, police urge anyone with information to come forward. For now, loved ones and colleagues are left to mourn a devastating loss, and wait for answers.
