It was supposed to be a routine flight from Denver to Miami — until a deafening *boom* sent panic through the cabin.

American Airlines Flight 2341, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 carrying 176 passengers and six crew members, was forced to ABORT takeoff at Denver International Airport after a mechanical failure led to a terrifying fire near the rear of the aircraft.

In a chilling audio clip, air traffic control can be heard warning the pilots: “You’ve got a lot of smoke.” Seconds later, flames were visible and smoke began to billow into the main cabin.

Passengers were ordered to evacuate immediately using the emergency slides. The runway scene was described as “pure chaos” as families grabbed loved ones and rushed into the open air. One passenger was hospitalized for minor injuries, according to ABC News.
