Texas Flood Turns for Wilson Family as Search for Mother and Son Continues

A Fourth of July weekend turned heartbreaking for the Wilson family of Kingwood, Texas, after their camper was swept away by flash floods along the Guadalupe River near Kerrville. Amber and Jeff Wilson, along with their 12-year-old son Shiloh, had traveled to attend a youth rodeo when disaster struck. Jeff’s body was later found, while Amber and Shiloh remain missing. Amber’s brother, John Dustin Ledford, took to social media to raise awareness, sharing photos of the family and their truck.

As support poured in from across the state, search crews discovered the family’s truck in the floodwaters without the camper attached. Some of Shiloh’s belongings were located 13 miles downstream, renewing hope for more answers.

Jeff Wilson was a beloved teacher in the Humble Independent School District, where his sudden passing has deeply affected the school community. Former students and colleagues held a prayer vigil in Kingwood, remembering Jeff as a mentor, friend, and positive force. One former student, Jason Wagner, recalled Jeff’s lasting presence in his life, saying he was like family.

The community continues to support the search for Amber and Shiloh. Ledford has asked the public to follow verified updates and be cautious of misinformation or scams. As rescue efforts persist, many are holding on to hope for a miracle and comforted by the strength and unity the Wilson family’s story has inspired.
