The severity of Kate Middleton’s battle with cancer has never been revealed.

Royal fans were left heartbroken during 2024, when the Princess of Wales announced that she had been battling cancer.

The princess kept details of her illness extremely private, after months of speculation as to why she had been missing from public engagements.

Eventually, she was left with no option than to film a clip for the royal’s Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts, explaining how ill she really was.

Despite the emotional admission, the mother-of-three made a surprising appearance at the 2024 Trooping the Colour, looking radiant as ever.

But fans had no idea what was really going on behind the scenes.

The princess had been ‘to hell and back,’ according to sources.

Just last week, the royal canceled plans at the last minute to attend Ascot, a famous British horse racing event, which caused ‘panic’ inside the palace.

A well-connected source stated that Kate is set to ‘dramatically scale back’ her public appearances for the rest of 2025, as a reminder of just how ill she was this time last year.

As per the Daily Mail, details about the true extent of her battle with the condition have now been revealed.

They reported that Kate had been fitted with a ‘semi-permanent port into her chest,’ that administered chemotherapy medication.

Royal editor Rebecca English said: “This small device was inserted under the skin and kept in place until her treatment (delivered via the port through a special needle and a thin tube in a vein close to the heart) was over, several weeks later.”

The expert noted that even for a royal, there is no guaranteed success of survival.

Revealing the true extent of what was going on, English said that Middleton ‘is fortunate to even be speaking of recovery.’

How long it will be before the princess is ready to return to her pre-cancer workload is largely unknown, given the unpredictability of cancer.

It was never revealed which cancer exactly she had been diagnosed with, despite speculation.

Fans were heartbroken to learn details of the severity of her illness, and the impact it’s had on her life behind closed doors.
