We will never forget you.."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After seeing her in a recent clip, JEOPARDY! fans remembered the late player Cindy Stowell, who died of cancer.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas woman was on Jeopardy! in 2016, but she died a few days before her episode aired because of complications from colon cancer.<\/p>\n<p>To honor the birthday of announcer Johnny Gilbert, Jeopardy! posted a clip from Cindy\u2019s episode on Instagram on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Late host Alex Trebek was in the video, and Johnny, 98, read the clues.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tearsoffaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/5-31.webp\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Others paid tribute to Cindy and Alex, who died at age 80 from pancreatic cancer, in the comments. Some fans wished Johnny a happy birthday.<\/p>\n<p>One fan wrote, \u201cRip both Cindy and Alex.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An additional fan wrote, \u201cHappy Birthday Johnny and RIP Cindy and Alex as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCindy was unique,\u201d said a third fan.<\/p>\n<p>The same video was shared on TikTok, where fans kept commenting.<\/p>\n<p>A person wrote, \u201cRest in peace, Alex and Cindy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Please rest in peace.<br dir=\"ltr\" \/>It was in 2016 that Cindy went on Jeopardy! while she was fighting cancer.<\/p>\n<p>CBS News says her dream was to be on the game show before she died and give the money she won to groups that help people with cancer.<\/p>\n<p>She told production in a letter that she had been diagnosed with cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you have any idea how long it usually takes between the interview and the recording scheduled date?\u201d I\u2019m asking because I heard recently that I won\u2019t have long to live. She wrote, \u201cThe doctor thinks it will be about six months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tearsoffaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/4-42-576x1024.webp\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a chance I could still record episodes of Jeopardy! If I won, I\u2019d like to do that and give any money I win to\u2026 charities that work on cancer research. If that quick of a turnaround time is not likely to happen, I\u2019d like to give up my tryout spot to someone else.<\/p>\n<p>As soon as possible, she would be booked for a taping if she did well in her audition.<\/p>\n<p>The contestant, a creator of science content, passed away eight days before her show aired.<\/p>\n<p>Alex made a statement at the time about her death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Cindy Stowell recorded her Jeopardy! performance, Alexander said, \u201cShe had Stage 4 cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cindy wanted to be on Jeopardy! for a long time, and we\u2019re glad she was able to make her dream come true. Cindy died on December 5, which was sad. May her family and friends feel better and know that we are sorry for her loss.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCindy came on Jeopardy to play the game she loved, and in the process she was able to help cancer research so that no one else would have to go through what she did,\u201d said Greg Stowell, Carole Stowell, and Cindy Hess, who has been dating Kevin for a long time.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">HONOUR TO TREBEK<br dir=\"ltr\" \/>Alexander passed away in 2020 after a long illness with pancreatic cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Ever since he stopped hosting, the show has paid tribute to him many times.<\/p>\n<p>It was announced in June 2023 that the longtime host would be on a Forever Stamp.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tearsoffaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/3-51-576x1024.webp\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tearsoffaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/3-51-576x1024.webp 576w, https:\/\/tearsoffaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/3-51-169x300.webp 169w, https:\/\/tearsoffaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/3-51.webp 620w\" alt=\"\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Fans were thrilled about the news, but some thought the stamp could have used more depth.<\/p>\n<p>At that point, the US Postal Service said that Alex would be on the newest Forever Stamp.<\/p>\n<p>His replacement, Ken Jennings, showed off the award on a game show.<\/p>\n<p>They have a clue on the stamps that says, \u201cThis naturalized U.S. citizen hosted the game show Jeopardy! for 37 seasons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The answer is written below, but it is upside down and in the style of the show: \u201cWho is Alex Trebek?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fans argued about the design of the stamp on Reddit, with some not liking how it looked.<\/p>\n<p>If you look closely, you can see that Alex is on the stamp sheet, but not on the stamps themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay, it\u2019s great Alex Trebek is being honored with a stamp, but it\u2019s got to be one of the most boring stamps in US Postal History,\u201d someone wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlex only shows up on the pane; the stamp itself is a Jeopardy!-style clue about him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis seems more like a stamp commemorating the Jeopardy! 60th Anniversary than Alex himself,\u201d said they.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince most people will only ever encounter this stamp when they see it on their mail, I agree that it would have been nice for him to actually appear on the stamp itself,\u201d a friend said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat said, his name is there and it\u2019s about him and at the end of the day, it is a nice honour for him to receive,\u201d a third fan said.<\/p>\n<p>Others liked the stamps but thought they would have been better with a different clue.<\/p>\n<p>Another person on social media said, \u201cAlso, there isn\u2019t any variety; every stamp is the same clue lol, but still, amazing honor.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After seeing her in a recent clip, JEOPARDY! fans remembered the late player Cindy Stowell, who died of cancer.
