Fox News visited Casper, Wyoming, to talk with people about the impending election and Cheney\u2019s decision to support Harris this cycle rather than the Republican presidential ticket. The majority of Cowboy State voters denounced Cheney for the endorsement, labeling her a \u201ctraitor\u201d and a \u201cturncoat.\u201d\u201cI\u2019m not impressed with that at all,\u201d Clark Johnson told Fox News Digital when asked about his thoughts on Cheney campaigning with Harris last week in Wisconsin.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s ridiculous. I think she\u2019s a traitor to the country,\u201d another Wyomingite, Gunner Berg, said of the campaign event.<\/p>\n
Cheney is a strong opponent of Trump, which has put her at odds with the Republican Party and her former constituency, which massively backed him in the 2016 and 2020 elections. Cheney is the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney. In this election, Wyoming is predicted to vote red once more.<\/p>\n
The overwhelming majority of people in Casper who responded with Fox Digital indicated they didn\u2019t like Cheney and thought her politics made it hard for her to win another political position in Wyoming.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m definitely not a fan, and it definitely kind of turned some tables there,\u201d Dillon Sigman said, adding that he does not believe Cheney could again successfully run for office in Wyoming.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Liz Cheney, who originally was a Wyoming person that moved to Connecticut and then returned to Wyoming wearing cowboy blue jeans and a cowboy rodeo belt buckle and seated herself, completely flipped and became a turncoat. Liz has gone totally Democratic and appears to be down the road of the DEI inclusion and all the other dysfunctional things that are going on in her government,\u201d said a Wyoming resident who identified himself as \u201cRalph.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI support her decision to campaign for whoever she chooses. However, I do not think she is a voice for the Wyoming people. The majority of people I know do not back Kamala Harris or that campaign,\u201d Alicia Kellch told Fox Digital.<\/p>\n
According to Kellch, many who first supported Cheney felt \u201csold out once they got her in office and realized what her true intentions were.\u201d She also stated that it is unlikely that Cheney would be re-elected in Wyoming if she were to pursue this course of action.<\/p>\n
Chuck Kucera added in an interview that Cheney is a \u201cbackstabber,\u201d quipping that a Harris campaign event is \u201cprobably a good place for her.\u201d<\/p>\n
John Shelton said Cheney could \u201cnever\u201d run for office again in Wyoming and that he wouldn\u2019t vote for her even \u201cif she\u2019s the last one to be voted for.\u201d<\/p>\n
One Wyoming resident told Fox that Cheney teaming up with Harris didn\u2019t \u201cbother\u201d him and didn\u2019t view it as an issue, while noting that \u201cmost folks in Wyoming don\u2019t agree with\u201d Cheney endorsing Harris.<\/p>\n
