Clara was at Camp Mystic. With medical staff overwhelmed, she rushed to the infirmary to care for injured campers. Nolan, at a nearby boys\u2019 camp, helped carry younger children to higher ground\u2014while alligator gar swam into the flooded cabins.<\/p>\n
Helicopters dropped food as the dining halls vanished in the rising waters. One 8-year-old girl floated to safety on a mattress, later reuniting with her cousin\u2026 in Nolan\u2019s cabin.Both children made it home safely by 2 a.m.\u2014but the trauma will take much longer to leave.<\/p>\n
