Northrop died on Friday \u201cin the arms of his family,\u201d six years after being diagnosed with \u201cearly onset Alzheimer\u2019s,\u201d his wife, Lynn Herring Northrop, said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Northrop played detective Roman Brady on \u201cDays of Our Lives\u201d from 1981 to 1984 and 1991 to 1994. Beginning in 2005, he portrayed another character, Dr. Alex North, on the long-running soap opera.
