When a large blackhead\u2014composed of dead skin cells, sebum, and other debris\u2014accumulates within a pore and remains there for an extended period, the surrounding skin gradually stretches.<\/p>\n
Over time, this prolonged stretching can cause the skin to lose its natural elasticity.<\/p>\n
As a result, when the blackhead is eventually removed, the pore may not fully contract back to its original size. Instead, it can remain visibly enlarged, leading to what is known as a dilated pore of Winer, as seen in this photo.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, there are treatment options available.<\/p>\n
A dermatologist can address this condition through a minor surgical procedure that involves excising the dilated pore and closing it with stitches to promote proper healing.<\/p>\n
Alternatively, I use a more conservative approach, utilizing a controlled and mostly painless needling technique within the walls of the pore.<\/p>\n
This method helps stimulate the skin\u2019s natural healing response, encouraging the pore to shrink over time.<\/p>\n
